Advanced Rocketry in Sarawak

We conducted our final Advanced Rocketry Workshop today in SMK Matang Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak completing our nationwide tour covering every single state in Malaysia. We would like to extend our appreciation to 1Malaysia Development Berhad for funding this CSR initiative through their Dana Belia 1Malaysia youth development programme.

The workshop is designed for upper secondary school students with more emphasis on rocket design and aerodynamics. The students were paired in teams of two and worked together to decide on their fin design based on the lesson's module taught to them. They got a free hand in ensuring built quality for launch stability and also exercised their creativity on fins configuration.

At the end of the workshop, their rockets were launched up to approximately 1,000 feet high to the delight of the entire school despite light drizzling conditions. The excitement of launching rocket after rocket was celebrated with sheer joy in conjunction with this weekend’s Merdeka Day celebrations. We are in the process of designing a new workshop and looking forward to conducting it in your school in the near future. Happy 57^th National Day Malaysia!!!
